In 1975, excavation works for the creation of the lake in Echternach led to the discovery of one of the most important Roman villas north of the Alps. The ruins of the villa date from the 3rd century. Next to villa, scenes from everyday life of a Gallo-Roman family can be seen in a small modern museum.
